<upd_detl>I am adding these senses because it is not immediately obvious that kinkin's meaning of piercing when applied in the context of pain often refers to the pain of something cold.

A google search shows tons of hits for the ice-cold and brain freeze usages, including some Japanese people asking what kinkin means in that context:
