<upd_detl>i believe an additional meaning for 最後 could also be "latest" or "most
recent" instead of just "last" -- for example, in the phrase 最後のニュースを見
ました (which i just read in a book). the subject just got home from work,
and it seems to make more sense that he watched "the latest news" rather
than "the last news". i could be wrong, so i'll let you decide.</upd_detl>
