We don't use "former" in the names dictionary. Every person becomes a "former X" at some point. I think "US president" is fine.

generally i find numbering (or the years served) very useful esp. to put their terms into context but it's probably not needed for entries regarding american politicians i still think it'd be best to have for japanese people and south korean people as 日韓 relations are often in the news
