Wikip: 2013年に名前を「友紀夫（読み同じ）」に改めた（本名は由紀夫のまま）。メディア出演時に「ペンネーム」として使用している。ただしニュース記事などでは「由紀夫」表記が使われることが依然として多い。2023年現在、本人の公式ウェブサイトのページタイトルは「鳩山由紀夫」の表記で、Twitterのプロフィールでも「由紀夫」の表記を併記している。
