Most refs for the third sense talk of some form of "straw mat" Maybe like this? Tried putting the first two sense into on at first, but it looked pretty ugly. Still not quite sure

the definitions on kotobank mention boats, but Google images shows almost exclusively coverings for plants, and that's also what wikipedia says. Maybe worth including "(e.g. for garden plants)"?
