      Many dictionaries (meikyo, sankoku, JEs) have 爪の垢ほど, meaning "a trace," "a scrap," "a shred," etc.
I don't see "爪の先ほど" in my refs. My guess is that it's a nonstandard variant of the -垢- expression.
