      not sure, but i don't think it's a contraction of that.  just a classical form of しなければならない.
      す (classical form of する) -> せぬ (classical negative) -> せねば ('if not' form) + ならない.

      Could this be a contraction of させなければならない? As the ref points out, there is the feeling of せざるをえない too.
