      まごうかたなく is leading easily on n-grams and WWW hits, and the latter for まがうかたなく include quite a lot from this entry.
      My guess is that the dictionary prescriptivists are saying one thing and the populace does another. It's not a particularly common term, so it probably doesn't really matter.
