      The "acrid; pungent" glosses were deleted in 2019 on the basis that "the subject is always the throat", but I want to make the case for reinstating them since I found this in a context where "acrid" is a better gloss. This is from the book 香君 by 上橋菜穂子:

      GG5 also glosses the word as "harsh (to the taste); irritating; acrid; pungent".

      Though there are certainly many more cases where the subject is the throat, I think providing also glosses suitable when the smell/source of irritation is being described is also helpful.
