Expanded on sense 3 by adding the meaning of "to mine", as in 石炭を掘る. Also rephrased sense 4. 掘る refers to what the penetrative partner does and is a transitive verb, as opposed to the phrasing "have anal sex" which is a mutual activity. The inclusion of "to top" should be enough to clarify this and is the proper English analogue.

Seems like a figurative sense that is missing from the dictionary. I 
found "delve" as part of the definition of 掘る in an older paper 
edition of GG. And here is an example I came across the other day:
