"trying a food (in person)" is very weird to me. How could you otherwise try a food? With your eyes through the screen?
I think "actually" works? In a TV show I could imagine somebody saying "OK, now let's actually try it out!" |

I think "actually eating" on itself still sounds off. It makes it sound like it's a special kind of "eating".

yes, I like that definition better - the first one sort of
made it seem like meaning was mainly "eating immediately after
buying." Though daijs mention "料金をはらって" I don't think this
is necessarily true, I've heard "gourmet reporters" on morning
TV say stuff like "では実食したいと思います" so the paying part
seems voluntary |
