IIRC [rare] is not used together with [hist], perhaps an editor can confirm or deny.
Though I definitely agree that it's rare, I couldn't spot any relevant non dictionary hits when searching. Has no hits in the kyoto/melbourne or CHJ (日本語歴史) corpora either.
