Reordered with カランコロン leading. I don't think カランコロン and カラコロ should be mixed as if they are interchangeable...

Leaning toward a split of カランコロン and カラコロ...

I've conversed with 4 different native speakers on this. The geta use is fine. Reading a book called コーヒーが冷めない内 that takes place in an old-timey kissaten. The coming and going of guests is always punctuated by one line "カランコロン" with no surrounding explanation whatsoever.

Daijs specifically highlights the sound of opening and closing a door. This detail is essential. This applies only to brass bells on a string that clank when opening a door. It would not be used for an electronic chime. It evokes a sense of nostalgia.

[3] is not in daijs, but is asserted strongly by chatgpt, and there is a *spectacular* video demo of カラコロ here:

With native speakers, カランコロン was far more recognizable both for geta and shop-bells(better said, カラコロ was unrecognizable). I think the entries could reasonably be split. In particular, カランコロン has a restr on "shop-doorbell", but NOT the corresponding sound. With a split [2] and [3] could be one sense, but but shop doorbells would not be mentioned for カラコロ.
