But if you look at results for "ええ、そう" vs "えー、そう" on Twitter or even Google Booksit becomes clear that ええ means "yes" and えー means "what" and there's essentially no overlapping. |

This should maybe be split into 2 entries? Is "yes" ever written as えー? And is the surprised interjection (which isn't really adequately covered by the current glosses) ever spelled ええ? I don't think they are.
