Just adding that we used to have this as an entry (1755850), and deleted it in 2013. |

I've come around to having the adverbial form, as in most references. |

Iwakoku: 他人に負けまいと、各人が先を争うさま。われさき。
Not sure the glosses really capture that meaning
I think it's much closer to 我先に, the refs for it also note that its meaning is similar to われがちに

Basically all kokugos + GG5, Wisdom and DailyConsise have 我勝ちに as their entry
I think it'd be better to either transform this entry into it's adverbial form or have a seperate entry with it, which feels a bit redundant.
Only Nikkoku and Daijs have it tagged as 形動, Daijs has 形動ナリ
Massif has one example sentence with 我勝ちに
https://massif.la/ja/search?q=我勝ち
This word seems to be a bit antiquated in general |

'themself' alone is grammatically questionable, as is 'every~one~ for themselv~es~'. if going one way or the other, i think 'themself' is definitely the better choice. otherwise we could just have 'every man for himself;every woman for herself' |
