Smk also has the second sense: ㊁危険な事に手を出して手痛い損害を受けること。

- これ以上やけどがひどくならないうちに相場から手を引いたほうが身のためだ. If you're wise you'll stop playing the stock market, before you start losing really big money.
- あんな連中とつき合うからやけどなんかするんだ. If you go around with people like that, you have to expect to get your fingers burned.

Most kokugos (sankoku, iwakoku, smk, meikyo, daijr/s) have this as a jukujikun.

I think these bizarre types of readings are a big source of frustration for learners. They were for me, at least.
It's useful to indicate that they are indeed unusual and idiomatic readings for these kanji.
