Compared to the female version you also proposed, this one has barely any hits.

Also there is no basis for the word ボーイ(・)グループ to be regarded as a reading of 男团.  Like the hinative post correctly points out, ボーイ(・)グループ  is a japanese translation for the chinese word 男团, not a japanese reading for a japanese word. Apart from that, 团 is a 簡体字 and 団 would be used in Japanese. I don't think the kanji form should even be there in the first place since it's simply not Japanese.

I also don't see a direct ref for this word. Jawiki refers to ボーイ・バンド.

中国語の"男团"、"女团"は、日本語に翻訳すると "男性グループ"、"女性グループ"となります。
ちなみに、"团"は、日本語では使わない漢字です。
