| Comments: | Daijs's example for sense 2 is from a 1937 novel. Saito also has this sense. I think the "useful fellow" sense can be dropped. The kokugos have 4-5 archaic senses. The "mouse; rat" sense originated in the late Edo period but the others all appear to be very old. |
