Given how common it is, and how it is often used instead of 信用する, I think it's worth keeping. If approved, I'll index the sentences. |

I agree with Marcus's comments from 2012 and 2018. I don't think this is needed.
It's not prenominal in 5 of the 7 Tanaka sentences and 2 of the 5 example sentences in GG5. |

OK. I'll strip the verb conjugation code from the 10 entries listed in comment 10 below. |

When "adj-f" first emerged and got described as "noun or verb acting prenominally" I think I had in mind that the verb would either not be conjugating or was conjugated already, as in 得も言われぬ or ああいった. Then along comes 信用できる/信用できない and mucks things up. I'm very tempted to say that if a verb is usually prenominal, don't have a v1/v5x tag. I think that should work, and 信用できない can fend for itself. Of course 食べる doesn't get an "adj-f".
So, I guess I'm back to Marcus' earlier position, and drop the verb tag for these cases. |

seems like the adj-f is unneeded. e.g., 食べるもの means 'things to eat', but we don't mark 食べる or any other verb as adj-f. i suggest adj-f not be used anywhere that it's tagged as a verb |

There are 10: 骨の有る, 超のつく, 不注意による, 風薫る, 風光る, 現在に至る, イケてる, 顔が見える, 信用できる, 信頼のおける.
I don't mind signalling that they conjugate (v1/v5x) and are usually pre-nominal )adj-f). |

we're getting into questionable pos territory here. this is definitely an [exp] as well. i could be wrong, but i don't think we have many entries that are marked as both a verb and an adj-f. |

I wouldn't expect 信用できない to be used so prenominally.
I think it should stay. |

I don't think this is almost always prenominal, looking at twitter hits.
prenominal use / not prenominal use
信用できる 60/40
信用できない 90/10
(percent, looked at maybe 20 or so of each)
I still think this is a better entry than "使用できる" though because the translation is at least good. |

I've agonized over this one for several days. It's quite compositional, but since it's so common, and almost always prenominal, I think it's worth having. |

Is this really necessary? It seems like an overly obvious
"a+b" to me. "Can"+"trust", "can"+"believe". Sure, it's
common, but so are loads of other できる forms of [vs] nouns
(maybe it does stand out though). If kept, I still don't
think it should be an adj-f since it's a verb and can be
conjugated as such:
"信用できない" 7m (b)
"信用できたら" 12k (b)
"信用できて" 17k (b)
The usage is also often very "verb-y": first result on
google: "ハローワークの求人テ本当に信用出来るんでしょうか?",
5th result: "教えて! Watch - 楽天のレビューは信用出来る?" |

I've been looking through the part-of-speech table, but I can't figure out what the part of speech should be. It's a verb, but it is used as an adjective (信用できないこと)(信用できる政治家). |
