"emulsion" doesn't refer to the process; that's "emulsification". I don't think the added gloss is needed. |

GG5 and the other JEs just have "emulsion" for this. To me the word emulsion usually means the substance; not the process.
I'm not sure the edit is needed but if it makes it clearer for some people I don't have a problem with it. |

"Emulsion" alone sounds like the process of creating the mixture, whereas the word 乳剤 is commonly used to refer to a substance which is the product of this process. I felt the database needed a translation that reflected this.
In fact, the process known as "emulsion" itself is 乳化 in Japanese, in light of which it is slightly dubious whether "emulsion" is even an appropriate gloss for 乳剤、but I am opting to leave it there as it may prove useful given the right context. |
