I meant to add that some of the instances were about trying to grab something like a straw of hay out of another's mouth. it was almost always used about animals

the instances I found online were all some sort of wrestling with mouths things like https://kuroshiba-momi.blog.jp/archives/10306325.html (illustrative image) it does seem like it's a somewhat of an established word but the meaning is literal and neither of these senses
