	Comments:	That's probably it. 鼯 is a JIS0212/0213 character. Most Japanese online sites are stuck in the Shift_JIS Dark Ages, and that encoding has trouble with non-JIS0208 characters. The KOD site substitutes graphics for 鼯, etc.
