Why is 宜敷く marked as ateji? 敷く means "to spread out", and if 宜 means "best regards", that would make perfect sense.

Splitting out of 宜しく. Nicopedia says "70's and 80's" but I can't find anything reliable to go on... and I think it has a very 80's/early 90's feel to it (I could be wrong).
