<upd_detl>As a place name, アマゾン is usually followed by 川, 熱帯雨林, etc. Since we have "Amazon (river, rainforest)" in jmdict, I think the [place] sense can be dropped.
I don't think the [myth] sense is needed here. The Amazons were a race of warriors. It isn't a personal name.</upd_detl>
