his full name then, rather than just the surname?
 And is the ateji really Japanese or just Chinese? The one hit I got on kotobank was for a book by 
a Chinese writer, 『列寧(レーニン)青年』</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Hope I got the syntax right. レニン seems to be an older/less used way to write Lenin. You can find it for example in Dazai's 斜陽: これと一緒に、レニン選集、それからカウツキイの「社会革命」なども無断で拝借して来て、隣りの間の私の机の上にのせて置いた. NDL has an entry for the book レニン選集, so this isn't just Dazai's personal idiosyncrasy.

On the other hand none of my JJ or JE dictionaries care to have an entry here.

Mostly I think this is worth having so that if you do read a text using this kana form and try to look it up you don't see only the entry for the kidney enzyme renin.</upd_detl>
