the point of the edit was to say that the word encompasses more than just clergy (schoolteachers too!) and I supplied two references that stated just that.

2. you moved the only correct translation to the very bottom.

3. gg5's sense 1 is nonsense, it is trying to translate 聖職につく but it does not actually tell the user it is trying to do so. its translations are completely at odds with any kokugo.
聖職 refers to a profession.
'the ministry' is not a profession.

<upd_detl>I agree with anon that the entry is unclear in its current state.
I do think that "ministry" and "priesthood" are appropriate for the Christian church specific sense though
