Character is young/Japanese, and just being personable. Subtitled hiragana as ういうい. English translation was "sure sure". Wasn't going to pitch this till I saw we had an entry for はいはい, from which I cribbed the glosses. A particular problem is that if you search for ういうい, you jump straight to the unrelated "ういういしい". You won't find the ウイ entry unless you already guessed the term is French. Not sure about lsrc. The xref to ウイ somewhat covers it. I think the french "oui oui" is most commonly used emphatically, not as this "yeh yeh sure, got-it" sense. Since ウイ is already in Japanese as "yes" (it's in sankoku even), it seems more likely that ウイ followed the はい->はいはい pattern with an identical result. Maybe a 3rd sense, [lsrc=fr:"oui oui"] = "yes of course" to cover the various French bistros that have taken the name ウイウイ?</upd_detl> <upd_refs>The ngrams below are meaningless.
