<upd_detl>All of these fishes look alike and are characterized by the fact that their ventral fins are combined to form a kind of sucker that helps them stay put at the bottom of river. The expression gorioshi comes from trying to forcefully remove a gori from the rock or whatever surface it has decided to latch onto.
Thank god we have scientific names for fishes. Now, if only we could persuade people to use one common name per scientifically categorized fish... (dream on)</upd_detl>
