<upd_refs>I don't see anything about festivities in the kokugos.
They all say it's the final day of a 芝居・演劇・相撲などの興行.
I see that some pages online about Broadway refer to this as a "closing date."
https://www.broadway.com/broadway-guide/9/broadway-shows-closing-soon/
千穐楽・千龝楽 is mentioned as an alternate form by smk, sankoku, and kanjipedia.
Shinsen and kanjipedia say the simplified 穐 character is an itaiji / 通用字体.

We usually don't bother adding kyūjitai forms (such as with 樂) unless they're somewhat common.</upd_detl>

I don't think it's needed as a search key, though.</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>New/old kanji pairs such as 楽・樂 are fairly well documented, so it's not much trouble for developers to programmatically add those forms as search keys to their apps if they wish to do so. We could also write a program to add them all automatically to all entries in the JMdict database. This has been discussed in the past, but I don't think there was a lot of enthusiasm for the idea.
I'll approve this edit to shorten the queue and then reopen for review.</upd_detl>
