<upd_detl>Given the 新しいもの好き form is a not-uncommon variant of 新し物好き, and is now in at least one reference, I think it should be kept. (I suspect it's a bit like "preventative" - the word is really "preventive" but the irregular variant has become very common.)</upd_detl>
