<upd_detl>I'm not confident about the part of speech for this one.  It's used as an adjective:  "廊下を挟んだ隣の部屋には...", "男女別の浴場の廊下をはさんだ反対側" and it seems to be more common in that past-tense adjectival form than the regular verb form -- 廊下を挟む -- although that exists also.  So I may be completely wrong, and it should be entered as 廊下を挟む instead, although I'm not sure what the proper meaning would be for that... "to be across a hall", "to be separated by a hallway"...?</upd_detl>

<upd_detl>Seems common usage of 挟む/はさむ. Eijiro has:
道路を挟んだ向かいに住んでいる : live across the street from my house
壁を挟んだ : cross-border
I've suggested adding the "to be across" sense to 挟む, and perhaps that's enough.</upd_detl>
