Re: [edict-jmdict] adj-i/adj-ix issues

2 1/2 years late, but... I think splitting ~いい and ~よい entries into two created something of a mess. Lots of these entries already had X_が_良い and X_の_良い versions ― so now each of these entries could really be four. Our 乗りがいい/ノリが良い/ノリの良い series of entries is a good example of how messy things can get.

What's worse, I think it's also a little misleading. 良い is frequently (possibly most often, even) read as いい. Both Daijisen and Daijirin explicitly list 好い, 善い and 良い in their いい entries (Daijirin also lists 宜い), so we're obviously going against our 2/3 rule here, if it weren't for the fact we had decided that いい and よい are different PoS.

But if the point of adj-ix is just to point out that an adjective doesn't conjugate, it seems superfluous ― we already have adj-f. In the helpfile, though, adj-ix is only defined as "yoi/ii i-adjective". Wouldn't it make more sense to tag both よい and いい as adj-ix, then, and get rid of the messy splits? Isn't it all just a matter of how we define it? adj/ix "yoi/i-adjective - always conjugates as よい - いい is only used in 終止形/連体形"

My friend Etsuko Toyoda at Melbourne University, who is building
some interesting educational tools, has been casting a critical eye
over JMdict and sending me useful feedback. She just sent me a list
of 53 ~いい entries that have "adj-i" POS tags instead of the "adj-ix"
ones we introduced a while back to indicate they don't conjugate. I'll
append the list below.

Most of the entries on the list need to be split into two entries; a
良い/よい one and an いい one with their respective POS tags. I plan
to do a crash edit on them, and self-approve them unless there is
something that I think needs some discussion. I don't want to load
about a hundred items into the approvals process.
