Re: Server down

As some people have already noticed, the dictionary database is now online
again, so new submissions and amendments can proceed.

The generation of new edict, etc. editions is not working yet, so updates will
not be appearing in wwwjdic, etc. It may take a few days to get the software
versions sorted out.

Cheers

The edrdg.org server is on its way back into service. The wwwjdic server is working, along with the wiki and most of the static www pages. The dictionary database will be a while yet.

It turned out to be a major problem which took a lot of investigation and numerous attempts to repair it, but eventually we were forced to do a complete reinstallation and rebuild of the applications. Not very nice. I'm very grateful for William's work on it.

As many of you will have noticed, the edrdg server is down. It got into trouble about 24 hours ago and had to be rebooted. The boot did not complete, and further attempts got the same result. We now are exploring the possibility of having to fix some disk corruption. It may be a while before it's back.

I'm away from home, with just a tablet, and a house full of guests, so I'm relying on William Maton's expertise.

The original crash was probably due to a lot of hits to the wiki. It's a known problem.< div>
