Re: [edict-jmdict] Upcoming enamdict moves

Hi,

Maybe you can make the list available somewhere for manual review ?
Grouping items by categories (airlines, fashion houses ..) might make things easier.

As for automation, Jim has a tool for bulk edit. Giving him a list of entry_seq should be enough (with kanji/reading parts for double checking).
(difficult entries with many senses should still be done by hand)

And Edict now has a "n-pr" tag for proper nouns.

Hello

I've collected a set of about 300 edict entries that should be moved to
enamdict.

It's probably too many requests to make by hand, but I can try to
automate the request-making, possibly this weekend. [1] (This is
somewhat of an advance warning.)

The set mostly contains:
- airlines
- fashion houses
- trade marks
- names of drugs
- companies
- surnames
- names given to various natural features

It definitely needs some more human curating (I'm sure there are about
twenty or thirty entries whose moves you might disagree with) so
automatic approving is out of the question.

Is there anything I should do to make it easier on you? I'm thinking of
tagging the requests with a distinctive 'submitter' field at least.

[1] This sort of automation is a bit outside my expertise so it might
take a bit longer.

By the way, are there policies on keeping political parties in edict?
The Japanese ones can of course stay, but I'm not really sure about
keeping e.g. Sinn Fein or the Wafd party of Egypt. I'm not planning to
make any move requests for these though.

On a tangentially related subject, edict should perhaps have a special
part-of-speech tag for the Napoleons and Gandhis and Tchaikovskys, and
the various capital cities. 'Noun' seems quite suboptimal to me.
