Was it really a PoS from the dictionary, or had it been interpolated by JED?

The only PoS descriptions that include the word "particle" are those of
"adj-no", "adv-to" and "prt" itself. "kko" and "kke" don't appear anywhere
AFAICT.

Not really. I find this all a bit of a mystery, and unless you can identify the
actual term you saw, I probably can't help you. Does JED have a search history
you can examine?
