Both end in う.  The difference appears to be in how they conjugate; v2u-s has a verb stem, whereas v2a-s is "stemless".  So you have for example, 植う[v2u-s] and 得[v2a-s]. 得 and others derived from it (e.g. 待ち得) seem to be the only v2a-s verbs.

Even though it ends in う, I think I've changed my mind and v2u-s should be called v2w-s instead, to indicate that it conjugates with ゑ (we) instead of え (e).  Wikipedia lists it as ワ行.
