I have no problem with a "neol" tag - the problem is with defining and
maintaining it. Establishing that a word is actually a neologism is quite
hard, as it may have been coined years ago. Also such a tag should
really have a date, and the word should be checked periodically to
see if it is still in use. If so, after a few years, the "neol" should
be dropped.
neol tag puts a lot of pressure on the dictionaries "freshness" I do think if you can pin a date to it, its a fantastic tag. Without a date not so fantastic. Think Jim is on the mark. |
