I guess I'm used to seeing "diff" output all the time, and I'm familiar with
JMdict's XML, so that seems fine to me. OTOH I agree that some of it,
such as the
line numbers is not really relevant.
An alternative could be to show the before/after entries in EDICT2 format
rather than JMdict. That way you'd get something like:
Before: 羅鱶 [ラブカ(nokanji);らぶか] /(n) (uk) frilled shark
(Chlamydoselachus anguineus)/
After: 羅鱶 [ラブカ(nokanji);らぶか;フリルド・シャーク(nokanji);フリルドシャーク(nokanji)] /(n)
(uk) frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus)/
More compact, a bit lossy. rather like what you get at

Definitely food for thought.
