KANJIDIC bug? Mysterious JLPT value dissapearance
I'm going to take JLPT this year, so I created some small programs to play
around with the relevant KANJIDIC data. I found something interesting in the
process.
First of all, I'm assuming the Japanese dictionary program Wakan uses an old
version of KANJIDIC because this is on its "About" dialogue:
"KANJIDIC (A Database of Information on the 6,355 Kanji in the JIS X 0208
Standard)
(C) 2001-2003 The Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group,
Monash University,
www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/kanjidic.html"
Now, comparing Wakan's kanji data with the 2008-09-25 KANJIDIC data, we can
see that the kanji 公 changes its JLPT value from 1 to 3. That's
understandable. AFAIK, these JLPT values are empirical. So probably on JLPT
tests up to 2003 公 only appeared on level 1, but later on the kanji appeared
on level 3.
However, what I don't understand are these kanji:
丼俺僅公其凄剃勿匂匙叩叱吊吠呟呪咀咳喉喧嘗嘘嘩噂噛垢壷宛尤尻岡崖忽惚或拶挨揃撒撫枕椅此殆溜濡炒爪狙瓦睨碗稽筈箸籠紐繍肘股脇腎腫膝芯茹蓋蘇蛋袖裾覗誰謎貰貼賑賭蹴這醤釜鍋鍵闇隙鞄頃頓頬餌馳髭
In Wakan, they are listed as JLPT 1 kanji. However, in the newest KANJIDIC
they don't have a J value. Some explanations that I could think of:
1) Those kanji have actually appeared on JLPT level 1 and correctly recorded
on the old KANJIDIC version, but somehow the value was accidentally deleted
2) The value on the old KANJIDIC is known to be bogus (the kanji never
appeared in JLPT), and thus the wrong value is deleted
4) It has actually appeared on old JLPT tests, but the one making JLPT tests
declared on a blood-signed paper with the Emperor as the witness that those
kanji will not appear again in future tests. Thus the value is deleted.
Can anyone tell me what's really going on?
Thanks
