Very, very difficult to "fix". To balance it, the server would have to do two
passes over the entries, trying to work out how much vertical space
would be needed
so that the break could go in the optimal place. Since that's
dependent on issues
quite outside the server's knowledge, such as the size of the screen
you have, the
font sizes you have selected, etc. etc. it's all too hard to attempt
in a meaningful
way. I have gone for the simple approach, which is to dived the
entries in two and
put half in one column and half in the other.
BTW, it only goes into columns when there are 6 or more entries.

I use Gmail in text mode.
