Actually much of that customisation has only been implemented relatively
recently.  I have much of the optional stuff turned off, and I like it that
way, but every now and again I find myself thinking I could do with one bit
of it back.

The "wishlist" includes saving previous settings on the customise
page (something that could be done server side, or (I think) locally with
cookies and javascript).  Until that arrives I'm leaving my settings as they
are because I don't want to have to fill in my email address and click all
those radio boxes again.
