Certainly interested in people's views, but I am very chary of removing
options which went in following users' requests. That summary of the
front menu was proposed to avoid people having to go back to the front
for those functions. It's on the top of practically every CGI-denerated
page, and provides some consistency. I can't really see the case for
splitting some of it off into the footers. I actually use the "Example
Search" option from there quite a bit.

Dennis noticed something I'd overlooked when replacing that radio-button
setup with a set of Submit buttons - if you press Enter it submits.
Moreover it seems to different things according to browser type:

Firefox sends in the NAME and VALUE from the first Submit (Often "More";
sometimes "Search").

IE(6) doesn't send in the NAME and VALUE of any Submit.

Anyway, I have what seems to be a workable arrangement here which
suits both browser behaviours. If you press Enter (or click on More):

- if there is any text in the Search textbox, it will do a fresh
dictionary lookup

- if there is no text in the Search textbox, it acts like a More.

Can anyone using Safari, Opera, etc. experiment a little and see what
happens?

Thanks

Jim
