Re: Re: [edict-jmdict] Is it time to give up on こんにちわ ?

Would 全豚 be a neologism or is it now accepted in standard
speech? If so, should I give it a P marker in my word list?

The attribution of a (P) marker is based on its use in one
of several established sources, on its frequency of use in
modern Japanese (and is then fine-tuned by the application of
a little black-magic).

I am not aware that 全豚 is in any of the sources Jim uses,
and I find it has 312 hits on Google (a measure Jim sometimes
uses to confirm that a word is in frequent modern use).
It goes without saying that 312 (or 139 using the search engine
I prefer) is not sufficient to get a (P) on that basis).

Moreover 全国養豚経営者会議 (274 hits) has been established
since 1972 so it is unlikely that 全豚 (its abbreviation)
will be a neologism.

If Jim does decide to include it I would suggest something like
the following:

全豚 [ぜんとん] (n) (abbr) (See also 全国養豚経営者会議) national pig farmers assembly

全国養豚経営者会議 [ぜんこくようとんけいえいしゃかいぎ] (n) (See also 全豚) national pig farmers assembly

(Yes, folks, that was comic interlude -- in an otherwise seriously academic dialogue.)
