radkfile
Jim
Ice Mocha will no longer have its own independently evolving radkfile
- have realized how many corrections you've made to it since August
2005 when radical functionality first went into Ice Mocha. In that
short period no less than 7 radicals changed their position vis-a-vis
stroke count, and many more decompositions have been added (and some
removed). Thus I'm writing the tools to make all the radical
features in ICE amenable to updates in radkfile. My only misgiving
is that 毋 is not used instead of 母 (because it occurs
with such greater frequency in various kanji and would make more
sense to those looking for kanji they don't know anything about), but
I'm going to adhere to your way of doing it because you are evolving
radkfile forward way faster than I alone could ever hope to.
That said, SOMEDAY I hope to write a program somewhat like SODER
which will allow multiple people to cruise through the kanji and
suggest tweaks to radical decomposition (should be simpler).
My questions then are these:
1) how sure are we that more radicals will not change position vis-a-
vis stroke count (the corollary question being do we need to
vigorously inspect each radical so that its stroke count is vetted)
2) Are there any candidate radicals that might someday be added to
the current mix changing the total number of radicals covered (which
threaten to destabilize web based user interfaces) that you are
considering?
